Origin

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, which is today one of the biggest pentecostal churches in the world, started in a small way with a few number of people. The late founder of the Church, Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, started a study group then called the ogo oluwa society but through a vision saw the name “The Redeemed Christian Church of God”. He was enabled by the Holy Spirit to scribble the letters of the name of the Church. He also received the revelation that the church would go to the ends of the world and that the Lord Jesus would meet the Church at the second coming. Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi passed on to glory on November 2nd, 1980.

In March 1981, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, a PhD holder in Applied Mathematics and senior lecturer at the university of ilorin, was divinely chosen to take over as General Overseer with a total of forty (40) parishes. A new chapter was opened and a new era was born. The phenomenal growth began under the leadership of Pastor Adeboye. Today the RCCG has become the fastest growing pentecostal church in the world.

On the 16th of May, 1993 a group of church workers and ministers were used by God to start the first parish of the RCCG in Ikosi Ketu, RCCG Miracle Centre. Within a few years, the church had planted over 23 parishes, many of which have gone to birth several others numbering over 100 connected churches.

You are always welcome to this dynamic church noted for miracles.
